Indie-rock band Franz Ferdinand is giving BBC Radio 6 Music listeners an amazing opportunity to choose part of the set list they will perform at the first ever 6 Music Festival on Saturday 1 March.

In an unprecedented move for the band, the audience will have the opportunity to vote at bbc.co.uk/6music for the song they would most like to see them perform live.

They can select from a list of 15 singles, album tracks and B sides which span the band's four album career. The six songs that receive the most votes will be the opening six songs to be played by the band when they perform at the 6 Music Festival on the 1st March.

The set list vote will be announced during Steve Lamacq's 6 Music show on Monday 3rd February (4-7pm) and will run until 7pm on Monday 10th February. The results won't be revealed until Franz Ferdinand perform at the Festival, so listeners will have to tune in 6 Music's coverage of the event to find out if their favourite track made the cut.

Alex Kapranos, lead vocals and guitar Franz Ferdinand, said: 'We've never let the fans choose the set list before. It wasn't my idea. Could be a total disaster. Could be amazing. Let's find out.'

The inaugural BBC Radio 6 Music Festival takes place on Friday 28th February and Saturday 1st March 2014 at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester.

From indie to electronica, folk to rock to soul and beyond, the line-up features major and established acts including Damon Albarn - with a live debut of music from his new album in what will be his first UK live solo performance in 2014, Kelis, Haim, The National, and Bombay Bicycle Club as well as current and emerging artists championed by the network and its presenters.

There will also be a silent disco that will feature sets from The Charlatans' Tim Burgess, X-Press 2 and 6 Music presenter Mary Anne Hobbs on Friday night. And on Saturday night, New Order's Peter Hook, and 6 Music spin-meisters Gilles Peterson, Nemone and Don Letts will be taking their turn on the decks.
