Roger Daltrey has told NME that he and Pete Townshend will be entering the studio to record a new Who album.
Amazingly, the Who have only released eleven studio albums over their 49 year career with a new one being their first since 2006Œs Endless Wire which, itself, was their first in 24 years.
Townshend told the paper gPetefs got hundreds of songs so the only question is whether we get around to it, but he wants to make an album and Ifm always ready and raring to go. Wefll see. I never know what Ifm doing next, itfs about what comes through my letterbox tomorrow, but I donft see why we wouldnft. My voice is still in good shape. The hearing isnft so great, but the voice is fine.h
Daltrey is once again curating the Teenage Cancer Trustfs Royal Albert Hall concerts, his 15th year in the position. He told NME that he and Townshend would not be making their regular appearance this year but he hoped to be able to do something with Wilko Johnson with whom he he just produced an album. gItfs a tricky one. Wilko and I have got a show on February 25, but as Ifm sure you know Wilko has terminal pancreatic cancer so we canft make plans for things like that. His tumour is like a grapefruit and getting bigger by the day, but I will say if hefs still with us, and letfs hope he is, we will do something. Itfll only be a quick support slot, but wefll be there.h
