Lady Gaga wished artist Jeff Koons a happy birthday on Tuesday, thanking him for inspiring her.

The singer mentions him in her song Applause, from her latest album Artpop.

According to Gaga, Jeff is responsible for an “artistic renaissance”.
“HAPPY B-DAY TO @JeffKoonsStudio. Jeff we love u so much. The ARTPOP sculpture u made began a youth artistic renaissance. & it just beginning,” she tweeted.

“Monsters, follow @JeffKoonsStudio 2day. He's an inspiration to DREAM BIG. Art is OURS to keep alive #StartTheRevolution #HappyBdayKOONS.”

The singer has often spoken about her passion for the world of art and fashion, and how it affects her music.

Gaga was in Paris on Sunday, kicking off the couture season with Donatella Versace. The pop star has become very close to the designer, saying she is a role model.

"I don't always have anyone to look up to. It can be kind of lonely because you know some people have been very accepting of me as an artist and some people haven't,” she told Fashion magazine last month.

“Seeing where Donatella is and how far she's come and continues to go makes me feel like I have a role model. I have somebody I can look up to and say 'I can be that' or maybe I can at least try. Fashion is that thing that saved me from being sad. I’ve always cared about my costumes and my clothes."
