The Academy Award nominations were announced on Thursday morning with U2 and the documentary 20 Feet From Stardom receiving nods.

U2 are nominated for Best Original Song for Ordinary Love from the film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. The group won the Golden Globe on Sunday night for the song. They are up against Alone But Not Alone from the film of the same name (songwriters Bruce Broughton and Dennis Spiegel), Happy from Despicable Me 2 (Pharrell Williams), Let It Go from Frozen (Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez) and The Moon Song from Her (Karen O and Spike Jonze).

The documentary 20 Feet From Stardom is up for Best Documentary Feature. The film highlights the careers of background singers Darlene Love, Mary Clayton, Judith Hill, Lisa Fischer, Tata Vega and Jo Lawry.

Along with Karen O and Pharrell Williams nominations for Best Original Song, modern artist Jared Leto from the group Thirty Seconds to Mars is nominated for Actor in a Supporting Role for Dallas Buyers Club. Owen Pallett and Arcade Fire’s Will Butler are also nominated for the score of Her.

The Oscars will be presented on March 2 (ABC).
