Join us for a second year, as World Cancer Day comes to London’s Union Chapel.

We present to you an intimate evening of live music and spoken word performance paying tribute to those who have lost their battle with cancer.

An inspiring line up of musical acts covering songs by Dusty Springfield, Nina Simone, Frank Zappa, George Harrison, Eva Cassidy, Bob Marley, Lightenin’ Hopkins, and The Nolan Sister, alongside their own original material.

World class poetry from our spoken word artists as they invite you to share in their cancer experience, and remind us all that we do not have to face cancer alone.

The Cancer Poetry Project
“A single poem—heart-rending, fearful, raging, beautiful, grotesque, even hilarious—lets us know we're not alone in dealing with cancer”. The award-winning Cancer Poetry Project is a poignant and honest anthology written by patients, partners, family members, friends and caregivers at every stage of the cancer journey.

We feel honoured to join forces for a second year and showcase the innermost feelings through the unforgettable language of inspirational individuals. Words that cannot fail to touch your heart.

Cat Meat
An unmistakeable country vibe with blues picking and traditional country licks is underscored by battered Hüsker Dü bass lines creating Cat Meat sublime sound. Listing a diverse range of musical influences this London based four-piece are crisp, tight and well crafted, with a cracked withering vocal that is simply hypnotizing.

It is a pleasure to invite them to perform at World Cancer Day 2014. This ensemble will make you want to pull up a chair, sit back, and get lost in the music.

Emily Capell
Sounding like both the adopted daughter of Jamie T and Billy Bragg and a distant relative of The Clash and The Libertines, her songs tell stories of celebrity lust, longstanding musical influences and the ups, downs and rounds and rounds of general adolescence.

Performing in prestigious venues including The Borderline and The 100 Club, we are happy to invite ‘our favourite mod’ onto the World Cancer Day stage.

Ethemia
With spellbinding harmonies and interwoven guitar style, Ethemia have been likened to Fleetwood Mac and 'Beautiful South' with their chemistry resonating that of The Civil Wars. This acoustic duo mix up country vibes with their signature sound and have enough talent and heart to power an entire country.

Headlining gigs across the UK we’ve lured them to the bright lights and big city to cast their musical spell over you all.

Noel Cowley
A dusting of Irish charm and an abundance of cheerful demeanour, Noel Cowley is instantly likeable with a talent that resonates long after he has left the stage. Taking lyrical influences from the likes of Fran Healy, Chris Difford, and Neil Finn, Noel is an esteemed singer-songwriter who is carving a name for himself on the UK folk music scene.

The simplicity of relatable stories, complimented by his dulcet tones give Noel Cowley an easy listening style that is thoroughly addictive.
