Nicole Scherzinger spent Thanksgiving on Instagram this year.

The singer has been living in the UK while she helped judge and mentor on the British X Factor.

Originally from Hawaii, the 35-year-old often pines for her loved ones back at home.

"It's not the same - I miss home and I miss my family," she admitted to British magazine OK! when discussing the US holiday.

"I was looking at all my friends' Instagram accounts and everybody was posing with turkeys. Thanksgiving is as big as Christmas in America so I do miss my family, but I draw close to my friends and family here."

Now The X Factor UK season has come to an end, Nicole has more time to think about other ventures.

There'll be no time for relaxing, as the brunette works on her musical career.

"I won't have too much time because I have an album on the way - I'll be finishing that," she explained.

The end of the year is a time of excess for many people as they celebrate new beginnings.

Nicole has no particular wishes for the New Year and is instead thinking about those less fortunate than her.

She feels particularly affected by those who have lost their homes or loved ones during Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines in November 2013.

"Honestly, the only thing I want is to make sure people give back to the Philippines right now. I'm so spoiled, especially being on the show, I have no wants. I'm overly blessed," she said.
