Carmen Electra takes on “empowering others” with her music.

The 41-year-old Hollywood glamour model has just released new single WERQ, which she describes as “part pop, dance, electro”.

And Carmen tells America’s OK! magazine she wants fans to gain self-confidence while listening to the track.

“Self-empowerment and empowering others [inspired the song]. Taking what you got and making it WERQ!” she told the publication.

“My plan is to finish the album and in between that, shoot the new video for WERQ, and I will be popping up and performing the new material. [You can expect to hear on my album] more fun, uplifting songs that you can dance to with a positive message.”

Carmen credits ex-boyfriend Prince with helping launch her music career, as the veteran musician signed her to his music label Paisley Park Records in 1991.

But she confirms the pair haven’t spoken to each other for quite some time.

“No [we don’t stay in touch], but I will always have gratitude toward him for believing in me as an artist and giving me the opportunity to spend every day playing at Paisley Park studios, which was like the Willy Wonka of music, performance, and creativity,” she gushed.

“I felt like I had been given the golden ticket to the chocolate factory!”

Carmen will release her second full-length studio LP sometime in the New Year.
