Max George says meeting US First Lady Michelle Obama was the "highlight" of 2013.

The heartthrob singer and the rest of his band The Wanted visited the White House in Washington D.C.

Scenes recorded during the trip were shown on their TV programme The Wanted Life, which saw President Obama's wife giggling as she met the boys.

"Going to the White House and spending time with the First Lady Michelle Obama was an incredible highlight if this year. She was so genuine and welcoming, she definitely put our nerves at ease," he told British magazine Heat.

"Both [getting out own TV show and the visit] were well cool, but definitely going to the White House [was better]. There's so much history there. Michelle was kind enough to give us a tour of the White House and we got to see a lot of crazy things most people don't get access to."

Max was then asked whether he and his bandmates - Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness, Nathan Sykes and Tom Parker - were doing Secret Santa this year. This process involves randomly being assigned a person to buy a Christmas present for.

"We've never actually done a Secret Santa, but I'll probably buy the boys some gag gifts," he mused. "Or maybe a chain for Jay's phone because he's always losing his mobile... I've never really tried New Year's Resolutions, but I don't think I'd give up anything. I'd be more inclined to try new things."
