Dolly Parton will reportedly headline the Glastonbury music festival in 2014.

The country singer is tipped to take to the stage on the Sunday evening of the annual event, which is usually reserved for musical legends.

Despite being in the business for well over 40 years, the 9 to 5 star has never performed at the outdoor festival before.
"Dolly is perfect for the Sunday Legends slot. It didn't take any convincing - she's always wanted to play Glastonbury," an insider told British newspaper The Sun.

The timing also works well as Dolly will already be in the UK over the Glastonbury weekend at the end of June. She is performing at the O2 Arena venue in London on the Friday and Saturday, but so far has nothing planned for the Sunday.

"It is being kept free deliberately. She'll get a helicopter straight down on Sunday, or maybe even Saturday night after the show," the insider explained.

If the plan goes ahead, Dolly will follow in the footsteps of Arcade Fire when taking to the iconic Pyramid Stage. The band have confirmed they will be performing on the Friday evening on their Twitter account last week.

To announce the news they posted a picture of their schedule for June 2014, with the 27th of the month saved for Glastonbury.

If Dolly does take to the stage at the event, backstage could be very different to the usual rock 'n' roll scenes it is known for. The 67-year-old star likes to meditate before she performs to ensure she is calm and collected.

"If I ever get to the point of being nuts, I go off somewhere and pray a little bit and try to anchor myself and do some meditation and deep breathing," she previously explained. "Before my shows, I always pray a little. I ask God to bless the show and the people, and let me be a bright spark and do good and glorify Him in my own way."
