Katy Perry was supposedly “mortified” over recent performances.

The 29-year-old singer suffered a miming mishap while performing at the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes on Saturday.

And the French lip-synching accident reportedly bled into her live Sunday night performance on the X Factor UK.

“Katy was absolutely mortified [after the NRJ incident] and didn’t want the same thing happening again 24 hours later – this is why she sang live at X Factor,” a source explained to British newspaper The Mirror.

Katy’s singing on the X Factor was criticised by many as being off-key and patchy.

But the songstress is said to be confident in her abilities now despite the hurtful remarks.

“Happily she’s over it now,” the insider said.

Footage of Katy’s show at the NRJ Music Awards began circulating this week and the clip sees her singing over what appears to be a faulty background track.

Event organisers issued an apology to the pop star over technical difficulties at the ceremony.

“Katy Perry sang live during the NRJ Music Awards on Saturday night, but unfortunately a bad soundtrack was accidentally launched, taking over the live performance of Katy at the beginning of the delivery,” the statement reads.

“TF1 and NRJ present their apologies to Katy Perry... for this technical problem beyond our control.”

Katy recently released the music video for Who You Love, a duet with her musician boyfriend John Mayer.
