Lorde has been crowned Elle magazine's music "Rookie of the Year".
The 17-year-old songstress flung to the top of music charts worldwide this year with her album Pure Heroine.
And according to the international lifestyle publication, the New Zealand-born hitmaker is more than deserving of the accolade.
"Google 'whoa, where'd she come from?' and you'll probably get a picture of Lorde, the teen pop countess (born Ella Yellich-O'Connor) whose hit song Royals floated up from New Zealand and basically broke the Internet," editors wrote.
"Now Ms. O'Connor has the biggest alternative female solo single ever... Not bad for a high school senior," the outlet continues.
Editors also championed music "new kids", including breakout talent electro rock band Chvrches, former Voice star Danielle Bradbury, garage rockers Skaters NYC and singer Sky Ferreira.
This year's top cinema "new kids" also included Adele Exarchopoulos, Joanna Vanderham, Katie Chang, Michael B. Jordan, Mickey Sumner, Miles Teller and Penn Badgley, whose performance in 2012 music drama Greetings from Tim Buckley was met with thunderous applause.
"You did good," editors nod.
Lorde has meanwhile met her stunning success with plenty of humour.
In September, the teenager talked about incurring the wrath of Miley Cyrus fans after tweeting she knocked Wrecking Ball off the Billboard top spot.
"wo #1 on US itunes. even if it lasts an hour i feel HAPPY. downside is all these miley fans telling me they're gonna stab my rotting corpse," she mused (sic).
