Prince will become a sitcom star in 2014. He has agreed to appear on New Girl, the hit TV show starring Zooey Deschanel.
Prince will make his situation comedy debut on February 2 as a guest star on the Fox show New Girl.
The Zooey Deschanel (She and Him) show will have Prince playing himself and, according to the site Dr. Funkenberry, will be centered around his star-studded house parties. E! has added that he will get in the middle of the relationship between characters Jess (Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson).
A source also told the site “Prince actually reached out to the show. He is a big fan and wanted to do it. We were blown away and agreed immediately.”
Prince acted in three movies between 1984 and 1990, Purple Rain, Under the Cherry Moon and Graffitti Bridge but has done nothing since.
Zooey Deschanel made her name in the 2000 Cameron Crowe movie ‘Almost Famous’ playing Anita Miller.
In 2009 she married Death Cab For Cutie singer Ben Gibbard. They divorced in 2011.
Zooey and M.Ward perform together as She and Him and have performed at SXSW, the world’s biggest music conference in Austin, Texas.
Zooey’s sister Emily is the star of the TV drama ‘Bones’. Emily plays Dr Temperance ‘Bones’ Brennan.
