Taylor Swift is the first female artist to play stadiums in Australia since Madonna 20 years ago in 1993. This is the big time for the 24-year old star.
Starting her tour in the US in March, Taylor Swift made her way to Australia and finished the Aussie leg of her 'Red' tour at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.
Having celebrated her 24th birthday the day before on Friday the 13th, Taylor Swift thanked the Melbourne crowd for wishing her happy birthday by making the Top 10 Country Songs on iTunes all her songs. Swift said 'it is like a thousand Christmas mornings to me, the best gift ever'.Taylor Swift, Etihad, Ros O'Gorman, Photo
Swift delivered an entertaining, exhilarating, and fun show to a crowd of more than 47,000 people in one of Melbourne's biggest stadiums, with the crowd predominantly being young and female.
Amongst the sea of red t-shirts, cat ears, and light up posters, Swift was able to engage with the massive crowd, encouraging them to sing along to her infused pop catchy songs. During the performance, Swift was carried amongst the crowd on the shoulders of four dancers, enabling her to reach out to her fans and clap their hands as she made her way to a podium at the back of the stadium.
As well as the up-beat, exhilarating songs, Swift participated in a stripped back version of some songs including 'You Belong With Me' and 'All Too Well'. Swift demonstrated her capability as she took the opportunity to play the piano, guitar and banjo.
Taylor Swift, Etihad, Ros O'Gorman, PhotoTaylor Swift took moments through-out her performance to engage with the crowd, and give them advice and life lessons, as such. She explained the technique she uses to write songs, and why she writes songs; to overcome whatever is happening in her life at the point in time.
Swift can be portrayed as a very positive role model and she demonstrates her passion for music, love, and that it is ok to be different.
Taylor Swift wrapped up the night with her top chart song 'We Are Never Getting Back Together' where she appeared in a red, sparkly number which resembled a toy solider, where she was elevated from the crowd on a revolving stage where the crowd was showered with paper love heart cut-outs.
Undeniably, Swift produced an entertaining show which included multiple scenes and costume changes, which captivated the audience. Definitely one of the better concerts for fans cramming in more bang for back with an elaborate stage show worthy of the price tag.
