When Phil Chevron and Eric Bell started strumming their guitars in a backroom bar all those years ago few could have imagined 28 years on that the Vibe for Philo would still be going on stronger than ever. Part wake, part Celebration, the Vibe quickly grew into a showcase for the rare, the obscure, and the Live and Dangerous. From the start the simple motto was to play Philo’s music live, in the best Venues available, with the best productions values, and musicians capable of delivering it with honour, empathy, and class.

Today, drawing on an audience from three continents, the Vibe is part Convention, part New Year’s Party, wrapped up in a unique experience as the faithful hit the Old Town to commemorate and explore the song writing legacy of Thin Lizzy. Numerous side events have developed, gatherings are organized, and trips to St Fintan’s Graveyard, Sutton, are high on the agenda. The popular Pre-Vibe on the 3rd January is now a mainstay for local and overseas visitors and 2014 will see another Young Rockers Matinee to showcase young talent and spread the word to the next generation. Previous Young Vibe debutants have included Damien Dempsey, Leanne Harte and Conor Mc Gouran, among others.

The success of the Vibe is best seen in the achievements of others such as the amazing Hot Press Exhibition or the Statue on Harry Street. Even Penny’s are selling Philo T-Shirts this Christmas. However, we don’t like to rest on our laurels, and 2014 will see Classical Guitar debut on the Vibe Stage courtesy of Pat Coldrick, who will be joined by Dick Farrelly in what, is already promising to be a highlight.

Indie Soul-Rockers, Sal Vitro really moved people with their take on "Dear Miss Lonely Heart in 2013. So much that we invited them back to weave their magic on an extended five song set.

“Fighting” is one of those seminal albums in the development of the Lizzy Twin-Guitar Sound, and having found a Band capable of delivering it with Justice, “The Lizzy Experience” will be performing the entire album back to back the way it should be heard. Live!

The Low Riders, whose exploration of the power trio years in 2013 was a real eye-opener , are making a welcome return with what they are terming “an eclectic mix” of the back catalogue:.
