Prince to headline New Orleans' Essence Festival

The 2014 Essence Festival in New Orleans has announced Prince as its headliner, his first time appearing at the event since 2004.

2014 marks the 20th anniversary of the Essence Festival, to be held on Fourth of July weekend with Prince heading the lineup on one of the three nights.

The artist is also partnering with the Essence Festival in their #YesWeCode initiative led by the Rebuild the Dream Innovation Fund. The initiative is working with hundreds of grassroots training programs along with celebrities, politicians and technology companies, to help 100,000 disadvantaged youth to learn the language of coding and programming, giving them a leg up on future innovation.
