Billy Joel to make a 'historic announcement' next week

Word is out that Billy Joel will be making an "exclusive and historical announcement" next Monday in a press conference at Madison Square Garden.

Fans of Joel are probably hoping it's word of a new studio album. He hasn't released one in twenty years going back to 1993's River of Dreams; however, the words "exclusive" and "historical" don't really point in that direction.

Rolling Stone has the most likely speculative guess. They point to the fact that Joel has already scheduled four dates at Madison Square Garden for 2014, on January 27, February 3, March 21 and April 18. Their guess is that he will announce on concert per month at the venue for the balance of the year.

They add that Joel had previously said he wanted to move towards complete album shows and, since he has recorded twelve studio albums...

The press conference will be shown live on Fuse, MSG Network (both owned by Madison Square Garden) and BillyJoel.com.
