Kanye West is looking forward to living "forever in heaven" with Kim Kardashian.
The rapper proposed to his partner of 18 months on Monday, her 33rd birthday. She accepted and is now rocking a 15 carat engagement ring, with Kanye arranging for a 50-piece orchestra and fireworks to make the occasion extra special.
Before he got down on one knee, Kanye gave an interview to radio station KMEL in which he chatted about his feelings for his now fiancée.
"I have never loved any girl, other than my mother, as much as I love my girlfriend and I'm so happy to be with her first to live this life together and with our relationship with God to be able to live forever in heaven together too," he gushed. "And also to raise a strong family that communicates truth and beauty. We have a good time while we're doing it, just being creative. This girl is one of the number one designers in the world... She's been spending her whole check on clothes since she was 16 just like me, and that's why both of us are the most influential. It ain't just taking any celebrity - this is in our code, this is what we do."
Kanye claimed he and Kim are the "most influential" people in the world and admitted much of that is due to the paparazzi.
The couple welcomed their daughter North into the world in June and family is one of the most important things to the hip-hop star. Kim has taught him to take time out and how to bond with people.
"I love the fact that God has put her in my life every single day. One of the reasons I did Watch the Throne with Jay-Z was because... he has the best social skills of anyone that I knew at that time. I wanted to learn from him. [I have a] very robotic and intense personality, so just to knock the edge off and learn from Jay. And then God has now given me another master of the social skills which is my girl... imagine the idea of me as Kanye West learning to chill. And that's what I've been doing," he laughed.
The star was also quizzed on his latest album Yeezus. He has been criticised for the record's title and for appearing with a crown of thorns on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, with some claiming he was making light of Christianity. He insists the exact opposite is true.
"I'm Christian and I'm hip-hop. So you mix those two things together and you want to be bold and expressive... You see all types of commercials growing up you want to be like [people]. For me, I want to be like Christ," he said. "That's not to say I walk in his image, it's no god complex or anything like that, but if people pick a favourite Halloween character that's what I would pick. Because don't people pick who they look up to? That's who I look up to the most. I only look up to Jesus and to God. Everything I do anchors around it. That's like my hero."
