Nile Rodgers, the legendary musician, producer and songwriter will play with his band, Chic, on a special edition of The X Factor on Saturday 2nd November on ITV.
Nile Rodgers and Chic will perform a medley of three of the band's biggest hits, with Rodgers playing his priceless 1959 Fender Stratocaster, known as 'The Hit Maker' - so called - because it has played on massive hit albums by artists including Madonna, David Bowie, Diana Ross and most recently Daft Punk, who enjoyed their first No.1 single and album this year, thanks to Rodger's creative touch.
The X Factor appearance is the latest episode in an incredible year for Nile Rodgers and Chic, who have seen their stock rise meteorically in the last twelve months. Will Kennard from Chase & Status described Rodgers as 'a music genius' in a recent interview, whilst collaborations with Disclosure, David Guetta, Tensnake, Avicii and - not least - Daft Punk, have shown that Rodger's ability to move between the mainstream and the underground has remained undiminished after over forty years in the business.
Rodgers' own band ' Chic ' has enjoyed record sales of their back catalogue this year: 'Up All Night (The Greatest Hits)' has been one of the year's biggest sellers and a new 'Disco Edition' of the album is released by Warner Music / Rhino UK on 28th October. The 2CD compilation contains a new medley of the now legendary 2013 Glastonbury performance, as well as a 12' version of Madonna's 'Like A Virgin', the biggest selling single in Duran Duran's history, 'The Reflex' and Sister Sledge's 'Frankie' plus a new mix of classic Chic hits.
Nile Rodgers Presents The Chic Organization: Up All Night: The Greatest Hits DISCO EDITION is available on Warner Music / Rhino UK 28th October 2013
