Daryl Hall and John Oates have lent their 1975 recording of 'Alone Too Long' to new Stephen Merchant Comedy, 'Hello Ladies'.

Better known as Ricky Gervais' partner in comedy, Stephen Merchant has branched out on his own starring the new HBO comedy, 'Hello ladies'. The show that Merchant also co-created and executive produces, follows his character's missteps with women.

Fittingly, Hall and Oates', 'Alone Too Long', features in the show's opening credits. The song originally appeared on the band's self-titled album from 1975 that also included the single, 'Sara Smile'.

'Alone Too Long' was a song about being a young, single and confused guy living in the big city, just trying to figure it all out.who I was and if there was anyone out there for me,' says John about the song, which basically serves as the synopsis for the show itself.

Merchant plays web designer Stuart Pritchard who has recently moved to L.A. The show follows Pritchard as he attempts to chase down the woman of his dreams, with very little luck.

Sticking with Gervais-Merchant tradition, 'Hello Ladies' is bordering on unwatchable, with their signature brand of cringe-worthy comedy shining through.

But, if you're a fan of the underlying charm of 'The Office', 'Life's Too Short' and 'Idiot Abroad', you will thoroughly enjoy 'Hello Ladies'.
