To celebrate footballing hero Pelé winning the Legend of Football Award at the 18th HMV Football Extravaganza, one of football's most glamorous and well-respected events taking place on 29 October 2013, Nordoff Robbins has teamed up with HMV to find the UK's favourite national football anthem.
We want to know what gets football fans going on the terraces when rooting for their national team. Is it Baddiel and Skinner's Three Lions, Vindaloo by Fat Les, We're on the Ball by Ant and Dec or one of the other songs in our top 10 biggest selling national football anthems of all time?
All over the world football fans sing together from the terraces using the power of music and lyrics to express their feelings, excitement and passion for a sport they love - music is their language. Nordoff Robbins uses this power of music to reach people who, just like football fans, have something they want to say and share but because of illness or disability are unable to do so.
Nordoff Robbins is asking the public to vote for their favourite track from a World Cup or European Championship from a top ten based on sales. The vote will take place on the Nordoff Robbins website at: www.nordoff-robbins.org.uk/hmvfootballvote where members of the public can select their favourite track and the song with the most votes will win.
The 10 songs (in alphabetical order) are:
1. Ally's Tartan Army - Andy Cameron
2. Back Home - England World Cup Squad
3. Carnival De Paris - Dario G
4. Nessun Dorma - Luciano Pavarotti
5. This Time - England World Cup Squad
6. Three Lions - Baddiel / Skinner / Lightning Seeds
7. Vindaloo - Fat Les
8. We're on the Ball - Ant and Dec
9. We Have a Dream - Scottish World Cup Squad
10. World in Motion - England / New Order
The winner will be announced on Tuesday 29 October and all entrants will be able to download the winning track, for free at HMV. Voting closes at 5.00 pm on Monday 28 October 2013.
