Beyoncé Knowles is planning to dominate the charts with a top secret single.
The pop star is believed to have recorded the new song a few weeks ago. She is set to release the tune in early December – shortly after Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry have unveiled their new albums.
“Many in the music industry have gotten intel that Beyoncé will put out a single in the fourth quarter, sometime from late November to early December,” a source told New York Daily News’ Confidenti@l. “It’s an official single and it’s timed perfectly to push out all the others. It will be out before the end of the year.”
Beyoncé had apparently wanted to release a big song earlier in the year, but decided to wait until there was some real chart competition.
She is determined to keep the tune under wraps, and it was only played a few times while she shot the video in August. The promo was directed by celebrity photographer Terry Richardson and filmed in Coney Island, Brooklyn.
According to insiders, the new song and video will be released on December 3 – the same day as Britney Spears’ eighth album Britney Jean is available.
“There is a noticeable hole in Columbia Records’ Q4 release schedule and it’s going to be Beyoncé’s release,” a source explained.
It has been claimed that Pepsi have funded the entire project.
Representatives for the star confirm Beyoncé is working on something, but insist there are “no confirmed dates” for its release.
Beyoncé isn’t the only one gearing up for a fresh assault on the music charts.
Mariah Carey has been busy working on her new album The Art of Letting Go. The release was postponed after Mariah dislocated her shoulder while shooting a music promo during the summer.
