Ashley Benson is a huge fan of 16-year-old pop singer Lorde.

The Pretty Little Liars star has been listening to the New Zealand newcomer’s first studio album Pure Heroine on repeat and she tweeted the singer personally to share her deep appreciation for the music.

“Well done @lordemusic Love every song,” Ashley posted on Monday.

More famous fans are sure to follow Lorde. The teenager became the youngest person to top the Billboard charts in 26 years with her September release.

She is also the first New Zealand artist to have a number one single in the US with her hit song Royals.

"It feels like a combination of my birthday, Christmas and washing my hair after a month of not doing so," Lorde joked during an interview with Billboard. "[I'm] very, very grateful for everyone's love and kind words."

But not everyone is a fan. Lorde incurred the wrath of Miley Cyrus fans after tweeting she knocked Wrecking Ball off the Billboard top spot.

"wo #1 on US itunes. even if it lasts an hour i feel HAPPY. downside is all these miley fans telling me they're gonna stab my rotting corpse," Lorde tweeted last month (sic).

She clearly had a sense of humour about the online bashing, even re-tweeting some of the more angry messages she received.

The young singer is also proving she’s very much an individual by turning down the chance to open to open for Katy Perry on the singer’s Prism tour.

According to Lorde, the opportunity didn't feel right to her, although she made it clear she’s a huge Katy fan, telling the New Zealand Herald she thinks the singer is “really talented”.
