When Wilko Johnson learned earlier this year that he had terminal pancreatic cancer, he decided to forego chemotherapy and live out the rest of his life doing the things that he loves. That has, so far, included a farewell tour and now adds the recording of a final album.
Britain's Mirror broke the story on Wednesday that he will be working with Roger Daltrey on the album, which has been confirmed on the official Who website. The two met earlier this month at an awards ceremony.
According to Johnson, doctor's predicted he would be dead by October but he's hoping he will "last into next year. I hope we'll have something done before I go."
Wilko went on to tell the Mirror "There are a few more things I want to record. I wrote some songs right after getting this diagnosis. It won't be morbid, though. I can't have any truck with that. The music I want to continue to make, I think, generally should be a laugh not a cry. So there's not going to be any cancer dirges."
