Jay-Z’s Magna Carta… Holy Grail has set a new record on music streaming service Spotify.
The rapper’s 12th studio album has clocked up more than 14 million streams in the US, according to Nielsen SoundScan figures released Tuesday.
MCHG now boasts the biggest first week and single day of any record on the service.
The album was released for digital download July 4 and was available on Spotify in full five days later.
Nielsen sales figures show the record topped other offerings from Kanye West, Justin Timberlake and Daft Punk.
Justin is among several collaborators on the album, which also features Rick Ross, Nas, Frank Ocean and the rapper’s wife, Beyoncé Knowles.
Jay has seen epic success with MCHG.
The album helped the lyricist score his first number one single in the UK.
It went platinum on its first day of release in both Britain and the US.
Jay-Z recently kicked off his Legends of the Summer Tour with Justin Timberlake but he’s already thinking of his next venture.
The rapper recently spoke about capitalising on the successes he’s shared with his wife with a tour of their own.
“It’s always floating out there, it’s floating out there,” he told BBC Radio 1 host Zane Lowe earlier this month.
“It has to be the real thing and it’s slowly making sense, more sense every day, every day it’s making more sense – as far as a tour, not an album,” he explained.
The couple married in 2008 and share an 18-month-old daughter, Blue Ivy.
