Universal Music Catalogue will celebrate the work of one of the most accomplished and well loved popular composer/songwriters with the release of the definitive Burt Bacharach collection on 10th June ’13.
Entitled ‘The Art Of The Songwriter - Anyone Who Had A Heart’ it will feature 6 CDs of music that take the listener through an astonishing six decades of music making, from Burt’s earliest steps in songwriting back in the 50s for artists such as Gene Vincent, Jerry Lewis and The Drifters through his peerless collaborations with lyricist Hal David that have given us many standards in the pop cannon - ‘Walk On By’, ‘Magic Moments’, ‘I Say A Little Prayer’, ‘Alfie’, ‘Do You Know The Way To San Jose’, ‘Raindrops Keep Fallin On My Head’ and many more - and his work with some of the greatest singers in music including Dionne Warwick, Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones, Perry Como, Gene Pitney, Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, The Walker Bros, and bringing us right up to date with his more recent collaborations with Elvis Costello and Rufus Wainwright.

‘The Art Of The Songwriter - Anyone Who Had A Heart’ invites the listener to delve into many of Bacharach’s most legendary, career-defining songs, while his new autobiography (written with award winning author and former associate editor at Rolling Stone, Robert Greenfield), Anyone Who Had A Heart: My Life and Music, offers a frank and riveting account of his life and the stories behind the hits. The book will be published in hardback and on ebook by Atlantic Books on June 6th.
Burt, who celebrates his 85th birthday on May 12th this year, is still treading the boards a good sixty years since his first record was released and will tour Europe in June and July. The UK dates are as follows:
