Nicki Minaj reveals acting was always her “first love”.

The 30-year-old superstar rapper filmed a narrative music video with Lil Wayne for her single High School.

She and Wayne depict misguided lovers in the piece, as Nicki’s character is the girlfriend of a drug lord who engages in a relationship with Wayne’s persona in order to steal jewels.

Nicki attended famous performing arts school LaGuardia in New York City when she was a teenager and the experience of filming the High School music video brought up intense nostalgia.

"I may be working on something right now. I can't really say too much about it, but I definitely have the acting bug," she told MTV News.

"That was my first love, so you just never know."

Nicki’s narrative music video was inspired by Hype Williams’ classic 1998 cult film Belly, a crime drama starring rappers Nas and DMX that focused on gangsters having spiritually awakenings.

The star claims her sensuous love scene with Lil Wayne in High School coalesces perfectly with the song’s message.

"In the lyrics that I'm spitting, I'm talking about a dude that is in the 'hood. He did time in jail, makes money the best way he knows how — moving weight or whatever — but I'm still obsessed with him," Nicki explained.

"There's something still so lovable about him. And that's kind of what the video shows."

High School is the fourth single from Nicki’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up album.
