Jennifer Garner, Katy Perry and Josh Duhamel were among stars getting into the St. Patrick's Day spirit on Sunday.

Celebrities flooded Twitter with images ranging from the impossibly cute to the simply bizarre as they shared with fans how they were celebrating the holiday in honour of the patron saint of Ireland.

Katy Perry admitted her will was tested as she wrote her 33 million followers.

'Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone...AKA Ultimate test of sobriety day! #CHEERS,' she mused.

Josh Duhamel shared an image of himself covered in green slime.

'If only this was #GreenBeer! Happy St. Patrick's Day!' he wrote.

David Arquette got into the spirit. The actor tweeted a photo of himself wearing an orange and green leprechaun outfit.
Backstreet Boys singer AJ Mclean posted an image of himself puckering up at the camera.

'Kiss me..... But I'm not Irish ! Happy st Patrick's day,' he wrote.

Meanwhile Paula Abdul gave fans a chuckle.

'LOL! Didn't even notice I hit the "?" instead of "!" Didn't mean to ask, "Happy St. Patrick's Day?" she tweeted after a typo.
American television personalities Giuliana and Bill Rancic were celebrating with their baby boy Duke. The couple made their followers smile with a photo of their son wearing a green mustache.

'Happy St. Patrick's Day from Baby O'Duke #25percentirish,' Bill wrote.

Rosie O'Donnell also shared a photo of her baby girl Dakota dressed in a green polka dot onesie, while Jennifer Garner was seen out in Los Angeles dressed in coordinating green with her daughters Violet and Seraphina and baby boy Samuel.

Lauren Conrad enjoyed a more subdued holiday. She shared a photo of herself enjoying the sunshine and some music.
'Happy St. Patrick's Day!' she captioned a photo of a group of men strumming guitar in the outdoors.

With all the talk of green beer LaToya Jackson made sure to warn fans that whatever they do to celebrate being sober behind the wheel is paramount.

'Happy #stpattys! If you are getting into the #irishspirit Make sure you have a designated driver if you decide to drink! Enjoy & be safe!' she wrote.
