Jewel to teach son anger management skills

Jewel will 'teach her son to deal with frustration'.

The 38-year-old singer shares 20-month-old son Kase with her professional cowboy husband Ty Murray.

As part of a new online initiative to keep America's children safe Time Inc. magazines All You, Essence, Health and Real Simple developed website 1simplechange.com. The scheme asks people to share the 'one simple change' they believe will improve society.

Jewel is disturbed by gun violence and like the rest of the country was troubled by the Newtown, Connecticut school shooting that claimed the lives of 26 students and staff in December 2012.

She will ensure that Kase does not lash out and hurt other people when he gets upset.

"Anger shootings [are a problem],' she wrote.

'I hope to help teach my son to deal with frustration, and learn how to problem-solve in healthy ways, so that by the time he's older and not under my wing, he will have some skills. Then when he gets frustrated or when something arises that is confusing for him, he'll find ways of problem-solving and working through it."
