Morrissey is been treated in hospital for 'double pneumonia'.
The former frontman of The Smiths has struggled with his health recently, suffering ailments including throat condition Barrett's oesophagus and a bleeding ulcer.
Due to his illnesses he was forced to cancel several dates on his North American tour and his latest sickness meant he was unable to perform his planned concert in San Francisco on Saturday.
'Morrissey is presently being treated in San Francisco for 'double pneumonia', but remains on course to headline the Vive Latino festival in Mexico City on March 14,' a statement on his fan site reads.
'Morrissey's show at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco will now take place on May 1.'
The British singer has rescheduled 19 performances since falling ill in January, but managed to resume the tour in February, playing in Los Angeles, among other places.
His current tour had already been postponed from last autumn, when he had to cancel a large number of dates in order to visit his sick mother.
The star managed to play in Portland on Friday, but criticised the heavy security in place at the show.
"Place an obese McDonald's fry-girl into a venue security uniform and she is suddenly Eva Braun,' he quipped.
The 53-year-old has been determined to keep going with his tour despite the number of setbacks.
'The positive from all of this is that there are now no known ailments left for me to try,' he joked when he first fell ill.
'I am fully determined to resume the tour on February 9 at the Chelsea Ballroom in Las Vegas. If there's an audience of any kind in attendance, I just might die with a smile on my face, after all. If I am not there, I shall probably never again be anywhere.'
