According to Billboard, the new Jimi Hendrix album, People, Hell and Angels, is looking towards sales of 70,000 copies this week.
The figure will place the Hendrix album at number 2 on the Album chart just behind Luke Bryan's Spring Break. Here to Party.
If the number holds, it will be Hendrix' highest charting album since 1968 when Electric Ladyland went to number 1.
For those who are quibbling over calling the album 'new', it is the first time that these twelve tracks have been released, taken from archives of material Hendrix recorded between 1968 and his death on September 18, 1970.
The number 2 spot is pretty much assured for Hendrix as Bryan is well ahead of him with an estimated 120 to 130,000 in sales while Bruno Mars is in third with 40 to 45,000.
