The Break featuring Engelbert Humperdinck song to be released.
Engelbert Humperdinck has teamed with the former members of Midnight Oil, Violent Femmes and Hunters & Collectors for the second The Break album.
'Space Farm' is the name of the new album for The Break, to be released through Sony Music next week.
The Break and Violent Femmes bass player Brian Ritchie and Engelbert Humperdinck met during Engelbert's last Australian tour in Melbourne. They struck up a friendship and Engelbert thought it would be cool to re-record one of his old songs with The Break.
Brian suggested they do a new version of 'Ten Guitars', an old Engelbert Humperdinck B-side from 1967. It was originally the B-side of Engelbert's classic 'Release Me'. The song has become somewhat of an unofficial national anthem for New Zealand.
The Break recorded the instrumental of the track and sent it to Engelbert to record his vocals back home in the USA. The result will be heard on track four of The Break's second album 'Space Farm'.
The Break is Rob Hirst (Drums ' Midnight Oil), Jim Moginie (Guitar, Theramin, Keys, Producer ' Midnight Oil), Martin Rotsey (Guitar ' Midnight Oil), Brian Ritchie (Bass ' Violent Femmes) and Jack Howard (Trumpet ' Hunters & Collectors).
Engelbert Humperdinck is Engelbert Humperdick.
