It appears that Morrissey may have been a bit premature in announcing that the Staples Centre in Los Angeles would be going vegan for his March 1 show.

A contract dispute may be putting the show in jeopardy as the venue has said that, although they respect the singer's life decisions, they will still be serving some meat products at the show. Lee Zeidman of the Staples Center said "As we have done in the past, we are happy to create a menu with a greater variety of vegetarian items for our guests who prefer these types of options." He did add that backstage catering would be meatless.

In addition, Cara Vanderhook, spokesperson for the Staples Centre, told Reuters "As of right now, there will be meat options for fans."

Morrissey, never one to shy away from controversy, has shot back that the venue is contractually obligated to be meat free. He wrote at the fan site TrueToYou.com:

Reports that the Staples Center will not be 100% vegetarian on March 1st are playfully untrue. Contractually, all McDonalds vendors shall be closed down, and the only thing burning shall be my heart.

The singer announced earlier this week that the venue would be meat free, adding that it was something that even Paul McCartney couldn't do. "I don't look upon it as a victory for me but a victory for the animals."
