Whitney Houston's mother Cissy has called her invite to Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party "obscene".
The legendary singer died on February 11 last year, just hours before the music mogul's annual event. Cissy insists her invite to the high-profile bash is in terribly poor taste as she'd hate to celebrate such a tragic anniversary.
“I got an invitation to the party — which is the most obscene thing,” she told Access Hollywood. “I don’t know why they would want me to come to the party in which she died, you know? Unheard of. I guess maybe he just sent me a copy for remembrance sake.”
Since Cissy's comments, a representative for Clive Davis has told the US website that Whitney's former manager Pat Houston and her brother Gary Houston are expected to attend the Pre-Grammy Gala this Saturday.
Cissy also spoke about her granddaughter Bobbi Kristina's reaction to the book she has written about Whitney. Bobbi slammed the tome and labelled it "disrespectful" in the wake of her mother's death, but Cissy claims the star is just hurting after Whitney's passing.
“She’s grieving. [She’s] really grieving. Bobbi Kris knows — she better know — that I love her. Anything I can do for her, I’ll be there,” she said. “I wouldn’t say anything [bad] about my daughter. That’s MY daughter, whom I loved with all my heart. I love Krissy because she belongs to my daughter, all right? I think that she’s just grieving. That’s the only other thing I can say about it.”
Cissy was speaking at the unveiling of four new wax statues of Whitney at Madame Tussauds in New York City on Thursday.
