Adam Levine is pleased he always believed in his own "self-delusion".
The straight talking singer is currently taping the new season of TV show The Voice on which he stars as a judge and mentor.
The Maroon 5 frontman reflected on his success helping budding musicians and revealed what he'd tell a younger version of himself to do.
“You have to believe in your own self-delusion for a while," Adam told WWD. "You have to drink your own Kool-Aid in the beginning, because if you don’t believe in what you’re doing, it will never really work. I never thought I’d be a good coach, but I guess I’m pretty decent.”
As well as his spot on The Voice, Adam is embarking on an international tour with his band. The superstar singer is also lined up to perform at this year's Grammy Awards with Maroon 5.
“This tour is far and away our most ambitious yet — the production is bigger,” Adam described. “I’m excited to unleash it on the world. To have sold-out arena shows, that’s new for us. We are so unbelievably blessed and excited. It’s really sh*ty when someone doesn’t appreciate the wonderful things that they have, but we really do appreciate it.”
As well as conquering the music charts and TV, Adam has set his sights on becoming a perfumer. The workaholic also expressed his desire to make it in the movie industry one day.
"As far as acting goes, it’s going to be on a case-by-case basis. I don’t have an agenda, but it’s fun to live an adventurous life and try new things, be unafraid — and that’s what I’m doing," he finished. "I don’t have this drive to take over the world."
