It seems the reunion of Faith No More may be over.
Frontman Mike Patton was interviewed by Believer magazine and, when the subject of the reunion came up, he said "It’s sort of petered out. We’re also maybe a little too conscious for our own good. Meaning there’s a lineage of bands that maybe did some nice things and then needed the cash and got back together and basically just sprayed diarrhea over their entire body of work. We’re very worried about that. We don’t want to overdo it."
He did say, though, that he enjoyed the reunion, which started in 2009. "I have a hard time listening to my own music. Like, if you put on my record I’d just start cringing right now. Not because, you know, I’m Mr. Shy or anything, it’s because if I really were to sit down and listen, I hear the mistakes. You don’t hear the good things. But that’s changed a little recently. When you get older, you let go a little more. When Faith No More did a reunion tour, I had to relearn all the stuff I wrote when I was nineteen. And I actually heard more good things than I remembered. It made the entire thing really pleasant, like a homecoming."
Patton actually started his career with his high school band, Mr. Bungle, but took on the lead job in Faith No More in 1989 when Chuck Mosely left the group. He was able to do double duty, leading both groups for ten years with Faith No More splitting in 1998 and Mr. Bungle in 2000.
Faith No More reformed in 2009 starting with Britain's Download Festival and leading to a full tour that continued for nine months. Since then, they played occasional shows which became fewer as the months went on.
