Björk has revealed on her website that she is successfully singing again, after recently undergoing vocal cord surgery.
She explains in a note to fans that for four years, she's been attempting to heal a polyp on her vocal cords using diet and exercise, but it was improved laser technology that finally tempted her into trying surgery.
Her verdict? 'Surgery rocks!'
The Icelandic singer-songwriter, who turned 47 this week, waited until she'd been able to test her voice before going public with the news, but reports that 'it's been very satisfying to sing all them clear notes again.'
She apologised for cancelled events from earlier in the year and confirms that she'll be singing again in 2013.
From her website:
Few years ago doctors found a vocal polyp on me chords. i decided to go the natural way and for 4 years did stretches and tackled it with different foods and what not. Then they discovered better technology and I got tempted into hi tech lazer stuff and I have to say, in my case anyway: surgery rocks! I stayed quiet for 3 weeks and then started singing and definitely feel like my chords are as good as pre nodule! It´s been very satisfying to sing all them clear notes again. im sorry i had to cancel stuff earlier in the year, didnt want to talk about this until i knew for sure if it would work. So looking forward to singing for you in 2013 all the warmth, Björk.
Although she might have been quiet of voice recently, Björk has still found a way to speak her mind, selling special Pussy Riot t-shirts earlier this year in a bid to support the Russian punk band in its defense against accusations of 'hooliganism'.
Björk rose to fame with her mid-ninties albums, Debut and Post, but has continued recording steadily since then. Earlier this month, she released Bastards, containing remixes of tracks from her 2011 album, Biophilia.
