Nikki Reed and husband create 'music baby'

Nikki Reed is teaming up with her husband to record an album.

The Twilight star is working on a six-song EP with her spouse and former American Idol contestant, Paul McDonald.

Though the actress admits she was a little apprehensive about working with her other half, she thinks the end result will prove worthwhile.

'I'm excited about it, I'm nervous about it, understandably, and I feel like you can't really go wrong if it feels organic and there's something positive behind it,' she confessed to Us Weekly.

The pair will celebrate their first wedding anniversary this month in the recording studio.

Nikki, who doesn't play any instruments, reveals the process has been a collaborative one.

'Sometimes he comes up with a chorus, and he comes to me and says 'I can't finish this,' so I write verses,' she explained.

'Or he'll write the majority and I'll come in with the bridge.'

Fans of the couple can expect love songs on the upcoming album.

Nikki, who has no children of her own, admits it holds a special place in her heart.

'I'm sure creating a child [laughs] is much stronger, but this is our music baby, you know?' she said.
