Nanci Griffith has been forced to postpone a number of shows for the balance of September after having surgery on her hands.
While she did not go into details on the surgery, another poster on her Facebook page stated that she has been suffering for a while with a syndrome that causes her fingers to bend towards her hands and that this was not the first surgery to try and correct the situation.
The following statement was posted on her site and Facebook page:
Following recent hand surgery and under doctor's orders, Nanci's upcoming Minneapolis (9/23-24), Chicago (9/26-27), and Ann Arbor (9/29) shows have been postponed to allow for her full recuperation. Disappointed by the news but determined in her focus to get back to full health and performing again, Nanci has penned a personal note to fans below:
To my fans -
I love those 90 min to 2 hours that I spend with you more than anything in my life. It is the request of my doctor that I not travel right now. My hands have not healed properly. It may be a while, but I'll be back. As much as you have loved and cared for me, I love you more. And I will see you again.
Additional details on rescheduled dates will follow shortly and fans are encouraged to hold on to their tickets.
Nanci's latest album, Intersection, was released last April.
