Orange Amplification Presents The Classic Rock Roll Of Honour in association with currencies.co.uk enters its 8th year and is proud to announce the first of this year’s winners: ZZ Top. The biggest award of the night will be presented to Texas’ finest at London’s Roundhouse on Tuesday 13th November.
The Living Legend Award has become one of the most highly coveted awards in the music industry. It is only ever awarded to those artists who have truly cemented their place in the rock pantheon – with past winners including Jeff Beck, Alice Cooper, Jimmy Page, Lemmy, Ozzy Osbourne and Iggy Pop.
This year’s winners, ZZ Top, are no strangers to winning accolades with VMA and VH1 Awards and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (inducted by Keith Richards) amongst their achievements. This award marks a new pinnacle.
With a career spanning over four decades and selling more than 50 million albums, the ‘Tres Hombres’ − Billy Gibbons, Frank Beard and Dusty Hill − are always in the media’s lists of Top Rock acts and continue to sell out arenas around the world.
As Billy Gibbons tells Classic Rock: "ZZ Top band members are excitedly gearing up to attend the 2012 Classic Rock Awards, a celebration held in a timely manner following the long awaited release of the new ZZ disc, 'La Futura'. Good times for sure…! We've stuck it out long enough to where this once unpredictable style, which has no basis other than oddness, brought us back into vogue."
