Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan hints at stories, involving Marilyn Manson, Lou Reed and Neil Young, from his memoir on Australian morning TV.
It was a bit of a surprise to see Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan on television today, before midday, with Channel Seven hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies. But there he was, discussing the band's influence, 'mainstream indie' music and, eventually, his forthcoming memoir.
When asked about his celebrity encounters, he jokingly baulked about saying anything too salacious on a morning show, then said 'I'll put in the slight plug, I'm writing a book that does reveal some of those stories.'
He continued, 'I don't know. It's sometimes hard to tell those stories out of context because, during times of drug and drink, there was a lot of crazy stuff that went on. I'll give you a perfect example, I'll give you something that doesn't give anything away.'
'I was at Neil Young's house once ' beautiful, incredible house out in Northern California ' and he had a teepee, a real, legitimate Native American teepee. So, in the teepee there was myself, Marilyn Manson, Lou Reed, Neil Young, probably like Harvey Kietel or something,' he chuckles, 'You can imagine that round table.'
The forthcoming 'spiritual memoir' is supposedly titled God is Everywhere, from Here to There and he told Rolling Stone in May that he was 300 pages in.
