Queen Elizabeth II has made her first-ever acting role in a piece featuring James Bond escorting her to the Olympic Games opening ceremony.

Danny Boyle, the artistic director for the London Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, thought of the idea and approached The Palace to ask if the Queen would go along with it. She agreed.

The footage featuring James Bond (Daniel Craig) going to Buckingham Palace and then escorting the Queen to the venue by helicopter was shot in March, 2012 by the BBC.

A 130-piece crew was used to film the footage of The Queen meeting Bond in her study.

The 5 minute film concludes with stunt doubles of The Queen and James Bond parachuting from the helicopter into the venue. It was used immediately before the Queen arrived at the venue to take her seat.

The three-hour Olympics Opening Ceremony featured an 86-song playlist put together by Danny Boyle.

Sir Paul McCartney concluded the event with 'The End' and 'Hey Jude'.
