Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers will release a solo E.P. soon and Patti Smith has recorded the vocals.

Flea tweeted “I am putting out an E.P. I made by myself in a couple of days. It is obscure arty mostly instrumental music, except when Patti Smith sings.”

He says he recorded the E.P. for his school. “all proceeds from my Helen Burns E.P. will go towards the Silverlake Conservatory of Music,” he added.

Like Radiohead, Flea is releasing this music using the pay what you want model. “It will be available for down load at any price you want to pay, it will be a donation to the Silverlake Conservatory of Music.”

As well as being a founding member and bass player for Red Hot Chili Peppers, Flea is the founder of the Silverlake Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles.
