Katy Perry’s rumoured new boyfriend has insisted they are just “good friends”.
The American singer has been linked to model Baptiste Giabiconi ever since they were spotted partying together during Paris Fashion Week. He had previously spoken of how much he admired the star and it was reported they had sparked up a romance following her split from Russell Brand.
Baptiste has now confirmed he is single, although he does enjoy Katy’s company.
“Katy Perry is a real good friend. Seriously, we appreciate each other, we see each other regularly, when she is here [in France], when I’m over there [in the US],” he told News-de-stars.com. “Lately we saw each other in London as I was rehearsing with my musicians as my tour starts soon in Germany and she had a show. She performed on a UK TV channel and it happened we were leaving on the same day, so we left in the same train. As simple as that… Yes [I am single].”
Baptiste also took time to praise designer Karl Lagerfeld, who is believed to have introduced the model to Katy.
“We see each other regularly, from time to time, when we can. He has a lot of things to do, but sometimes we call each other. We are still very close. It’s like family,” he said.
Baptiste’s comments come after his representative seemed to imply romance was flourishing. Following claims the model was planning a move to Los Angeles, his spokesperson commented on reports he and Katy were dating.
“It’s new, they’re feeling it out, but they’re spending a lot of time together,” the representative said.
Katy and Russell are currently in the process of divorcing after he filed papers to end their marriage in December. They had been wed for 14 months and there is now speculation Russell is keen to move on in every area of his life.
He was spotted at a tattoo parlour in Los Angeles over the weekend, sparking claims he is planning to get rid of an inking he and Katy both have.
The British star has already moved on romantically and is now dating Nikolett Barabas, who gushed about the star recently.
“He's amazing, so funny, he's beautiful. I like being with him; he's amazing, so amazing. He's a good person,” she told Life & Style magazine.
