Taylor Momsen likes to provoke people with her “rock and roll” antics.
The 18-year-old singer has turned her attention from acting to music of late, and is currently touring with her band The Pretty Reckless.
Taylor sat down for an interview with Perez Hilton, where the pair talked about “titillating” audiences with controversial artistry. The blonde star is famed for her racy on-stage antics, and flesh-baring outfits, and admits she likes to shock people at times.
“Well it's all rock and roll, why not,” she told the gossip blogger.
“I mean, songs are just basically vignettes of life though too. It's an idea of a very succinct, you know small piece of something. So I think that's a piece of something. It's a piece of life.”
Taylor has spoken about how rewarding writing music and performing is for her. The star – who is releasing new EP Hit Me Like a Man - believes her fans are the most important people in the whole process from recording new lyrics to showcasing on stage.
“Finishing the record was the first thing. When it was actually done it was you know, that's one of — I was so excited,” she gushed.
“But then, you know, writing any type of song — anytime you finish something that's like the best feeling in the world. And then what comes after that is playing it live, and then from, translating from playing it live to having the fans sing every word to every song back to you is just the most incredible feeling in the world.”
Taylor is thrilled with her fast-paced lifestyle in the band. They are set to tour with Marilyn Manson, something which she’s incredibly excited about.
“Non stop,” she said of the touring schedule. “And then we jump on with Manson for a month after that, and then we go straight into the studio to start recording the second record. “We just played with [Marilyn] in Australia actually, sound wave. And I didn't get to meet Manson, but we did meet the rest of the band. They're all awesome, awesome guys. So it should be fun.”
