Justin Bieber still faces a test to see if he is the father of Mariah Yeater’s baby, it has been confirmed.

There had been earlier reports that the 20-year-old California woman had dropped her paternity lawsuit against the millionaire singer.

But her lawyer has responded to reports saying that she does in fact still have legal counsel and they are now trying to deal with the matter in a more discreet way.

“I did not step down and there is a legal team,” Chicago paternity lawyer Jeffrey Leving told WGNtv today. “In light of death threats against my client, strategies have been reviewed… the San Diego team has been replaced by John Carlson from Los Angeles.”

Jeffrey went on to say that Mariah is still maintaining that Justin is the father of her three-month-old baby boy, Trystyn.

“She believes Justin Bieber is the father,” the lawyer said. “Right now there’s no more interviews for Mariah Yeater, I’m not going to allow that.”

“Secondly, negotiations are going on right now with Bieber’s counsel and we’re trying to negotiate a private, secure DNA test with the same safe guards that would exist if there were a court order, but without a court order.

“The case is completely out of control and I don’t want something terrible to happen to my client or her child.”

It is not clear if Mariah’s paternity case is still technically active in the court system but Jeffrey says that he hopes that things can be settled amicably.

“My goal is that when the DNA test is completed, which I believe it will be… my goal is to keep everything confidential so the results will remain confidential,” he added.

Mariah claimed that she had a “30-second” tryst in the bathroom of the Staples Center in Los Angeles with the Baby singer in October last year leading her to become pregnant.

Justin is currently dating fellow performer Selena Gomez and the pair have put on a united front since the scandal broke.
