The news is finally official after months of rumors. The original lineup of Black Sabbath is reuniting for a new album and tour.

The announcement was made Friday morning at the Whiskey A-Go-Go in Los Angeles, the location of Sabbath's first L.A. shows exactly 41 years ago to the day. All four members, Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward, were on-hand for the announcement.

The new album will be produced by Rick Rubin with recording to hopefully start in January. It was reported that half of the songwriting is complete. Release will be through Vertigo/Universal Republic in the U.S. and Vertigo in the rest of the world next fall.

There will also be a major tour starting next summer which will include a headlining slot at the U.K.'s Download Festival on June 10, 2012.

The band also announced that BlackSabbath.com has been launched as the group's first-ever official website with tie ins on both Facebook and Twitter.
