The Beastie Boys have finally nailed down a release date for their new “pre-sequel” album.

The album has the confusing title of Hot Sauce Committee Part Two. The first iteration of Hot Sauce Committee wasn’t quite ready, so they have decided to release to sequel before the original.

There is a statement on their official website, reading, “Since the dawn of time, and perhaps even before, there was a silent order who were tasked with a mission. They held their secret tightly. On may 3rd the HOT SAUCE COMMITTEE PART TWO will be unleashed on the general public. Hold fast ye heathens.”

It’s the first release since 2007’s The Mix-Up which, at four years between albums, is pretty much par for the course.

It includes the early single ‘Too Many Rappers’ with guest spot from Nas and another guest slot from Santigold on a song called ‘Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win’.

So there we go. The sixteen-track album will be released through Capitol on May 3.
