Music News was on hand to witness Florence and the Machine close an exceptional year with a headline performance at the BBC Introducing gig last night in Kentish Town’s small but perfectly formed Flowerpot venue.
Florence had a scaled down band with her comprising of her harpist and acoustic guitarist. Fresh from playing sold out gigs at the Brixton Academy at the weekend she enthralled the packed venue with ‘Hurricane Drunk’, ‘Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)’, a cover of George Michael’s ‘Last Christmas’ and was cheered back on stage to finish with ‘Cosmic Love’.
Speaking to Music News after the slot Florence said “it’s been a fantastic year; I’ll be pleased for the rest at Christmas before starting again next year working on the next album.”
Also on the bill was the fantastic Temper Trap whose charismatic front man, Dougy Mandagi, entertained with opener ‘Sweet Disposition’ sending shivers down many spines. The Atmospheric Australians closed with a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Dancing In The Dark’.
