Pavarotti and Mantovani Tie The Knot

Luciano Pavarotti has maried his former personal assistant, 33 year old Nicoletta Mantovani, at a ceremony in his home town of Modena, Italy. Sting and Bono were among the 600 guests. The top tenor, and his new bride,35 years his junior, have an eleven month old daughter, Alice. Both mother and daughter wore matching pink Armani dresses.

Andrea Bocelli sang the Ave Maria during the ceremony, with Pavarotti appearing nervous and sporting a large Panama hat. The guests were asked to make donations to selected charities rather than give gifts.

Pavarotti, who joins the list of Chris Martin, Mary J Blige and Elvis Costello in getting married within the last week, has said he will retire from performing on his 70th birthday and become a teacher.
