Whitney Houston has singed a new record deal valued at $100 million, according to reports.

The troubled US diva's pop career singer has been in decline in recent years, as she battled drug problems and a turbulent marriage to Bobby Brown.

However, the contract with Arista Records, Whitney's home since her career began in 1983, is for a series of new albums, which could restablish here as a force in music again.

Arista President Antonio 'L.A.' Reid confirmed the news in a statement, while Houston said she was "so excited" to be returning to the studio.

"I am happy to be continuing the relationship and I look forward to working with L.A. Reid and the new Arista family.

"I am so excited with this new deal and I'm looking forward to going into the studio soon to start work on my next album", she explained.

Meanwhile, Reid said: "No one in the world can sing like Whitney, which is why she is regarded as the cornerstone of not only Arista but the entire music business."
